Mikissa's world

18,250

I want a walk to remember.
I want a language all our own.
Unique fingerprints and familiar scars
that tell a story, embedded in our hearts
and memorized in our minds.
Hand-in-hand we've taken this journey together,
trusting that we would weather any storm.
Children's faces look like ours;
Mixed blood and mingled DNA to carry on
the story of us long after we're gone.
18,250 days together, even when apart.
I had seen you once before.
Red sweater; black skirt; bee-bopping around that store.
Years later, like a magic veil had suddenly lifted,
I saw you again.  This was the first time I REALLY saw...

Dedicated to my Mom and Dad on their 50th wedding anniversary.  (Dec. 19, 1964 - 2014)
